About
Joe works with adults individually, facilitates adult DBT skills classes, and participates in a weekly consultation team. He is also a cofounder of East West DBT, a DBT collaborative servicing the greater Bay Area. His professional training in mental health began as a Crisis Line volunteer and trainer at San Francisco Suicide Prevention (SFSP), followed by his role as a school and clinic therapist for the Youth Service Bureau (YSB) in South San Francisco. Joe was introduced to Dialectical Behavior Therapy during his graduate studies at the University of San Francisco (MA, 2015), where he researched and presented on its application. He furthered his training by attending the Behavioral Tech DBT Foundational Training in Salt Lake City in 2015.
Having also worked in the high-stress world of finance and banking (MBA, George Washington University, 1994), Joe draws on his twenty years of corporate experience to help clients apply DBT skills to their work lives. A regular practitioner of mindfulness, he completed an eight-week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction program at UCSF’s Osher Center in San Francisco and finished his 200-hour Yoga Alliance Teacher Training program in 2014. Joe lives in San Francisco with his wife and three daughters, their golden retriever, Baxter, and budgie, Kiwi.
